Dr. Meadows will serve as a vital bridge between HGAR’s Realtor members and the elected officials and stakeholders shaping housing policy in the Bronx and New York City.
WHITE PLAINS—The Hudson Gateway Association of Realtors announced on June 2nd the appointment of Dr. Jermaine Meadows as its new Director of Government Affairs for the Bronx.
Dr. Meadows brings a deep-rooted passion for policy, community engagement, and advocacy to the role, and will serve as a vital bridge between HGAR’s Realtor members and the elected officials and stakeholders shaping housing policy in the Bronx and New York City.
A native of East New York, Brooklyn, Dr. Meadows holds a Doctor of Education in Leadership and Learning in Organizations from Vanderbilt University. He has built an impressive career at the intersection of policy, government relations, and social equity. His experience spans work with District Council 37, New York City’s largest municipal union, and a leadership role at Everytown for Gun Safety, where he spearheaded multi-city efforts to secure funding for public safety initiatives.
“Dr. Meadows brings an extraordinary blend of policy acumen, community commitment and legislative experience to HGAR,” said Lynda Fernandez, Chief Executive Officer at HGAR. “His focus on inclusive housing policy and community-based solutions aligns with HGAR’s mission to serve both the real estate industry and the people of the Bronx and New York City.”
In his new role, Dr. Meadows will focus on building relationships with elected officials, advocating for legislation that supports Realtors and homeowners, and ensuring that the Bronx’s unique housing challenges are represented in policy discussions at all levels of government, HGAR officials stated.
Dr. Meadows is also the founder of The Neighborhood Role Model LLC, a social impact platform focused on addressing mental health disparities in underserved communities. His commitment to equity and systemic change has earned him recognition as both a strategist and a compassionate advocate.
“I’m honored to join HGAR and help shape housing policy that meets the real needs of Bronx communities,” said Dr. Meadows. “By strengthening the connection between Realtors and policymakers, we can create more responsive, inclusive housing solutions.”
Dr. Meadows will be representing HGAR’s interests in the Bronx while also collaborating closely with the association’s Government Affairs team across the region.
Starting this month, Dr. Meadows will author a weekly advocacy column in Real Estate In-Depth, keeping members informed about key policy issues, engagement opportunities and available resources.
