ALBANY—Dr. Jermaine Meadows, the Government Affairs Director for the Bronx and Manhattan for the Hudson Gateway Association of Realtors, was recently selected by the publication City & State New York as one of New York State’s 2026 Black Trailblazers.
Dr. Meadows was among more than 60 Black New Yorkers working in a host of civic, political, higher education, organized labor and social arenas that the publication stated are “paving the way for others.”
City & State New York said of Dr. Meadows' contributions: “As the Bronx and Manhattan government affairs director with Hudson Gateway Association of Realtors, Jermaine Meadows cultivates connections and advocates for housing policies backed by the real estate brokers and agents that the trade association represents.”
The publication also noted that Dr. Meadows, who joined HGAR last year, helped advance a co-op transparency bill in the New York City Council. Dr. Meadows previously worked at Everytown for Gun Safety and also founded a nonprofit organization, The Neighborhood Role Model, which focuses on bringing mental health support and resources to marginalized communities.
Other notable Black Trailblazers in the local governmental and real estate sectors in the region included Westchester County Executive Ken Jenkins; Monique Jefferson, Chief People Officer, Community Preservation Corp; Bronx Borough President Vanessa Gibson; Garrett Armwood, Vice President for Government Affairs, SL Green and Ron Abad, CEO, Community Housing Innovations to name a few.
