NEW YORK—Brian Phillips, Certified Residential Specialist (CRS), has been named the 2025 President of the New York State Residential Real Estate Council, a not-for-profit affiliate of the National Association of Realtors.
As State President, Phillips will oversee the council’s activities within New York State and act as a liaison between the regional vice president, the council’s leadership team, and its staff.
Phillips has been involved in real estate since 1997 and currently serves as a Licensed Associate Real Estate Broker with Douglas Elliman. Based in New York City, Phillips works with clients in Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx, and the Hudson Valley, including Westchester. He leverages his expertise in both urban and suburban markets and is a member of the Real Estate Board of New York’s Residential Listing Service and the Hudson Gateway Association of Realtors for OneKey Multiple Listing Service.
As President, Phillips has outlined two key pillars for his leadership in 2025:
1. Expanding CRS Membership and Engagement: Focusing on growing membership statewide, particularly in the dynamic downstate region, by fostering collaboration and providing in-person and hybrid educational workshops.
2. Integrating CRS into Global Real Estate Initiatives: Leveraging global partnerships and designations such as Certified International Property Specialist (CIPS) to position New York State CRS as a leader in the international real estate community.
“I am honored to serve as the 2025 President of the New York State Residential Real Estate Council,” said Phillips. “My vision is to expand CRS membership, especially in the dynamic downstate region, and to further integrate CRS into global real estate initiatives. By focusing on education, connection, and collaboration, we aim to empower real estate professionals to better serve their clients and communities.”
The New York Residential Real Estate Council serves its members and fellow Realtors through education and connection. Its purpose is to promote professionalism in the industry in order to better serve one another and the public. RRC has more than 29,000 members worldwide and nearly 400 members in New York State.
Philips will replace 2024 New York Residential Real Estate Council President Susan Sommers, CRS of Albany. Other metro area Realtors serving on the council in 2024 are: Membership Leader Irene Guanill, CRS, Bronx and Communications Leader Donna Bruno, CRS, Pleasantville.
