Report: Luxury Home Sales in Markets North of NYC Increased by Double Digits in the Third Quarter

The Hudson Gateway Association of Realtors regrets to inform its membership of the passing of veteran Realtor Geraldine Micallef Sherman on Tuesday, June 4 at the age of 82. Sherman, of Salisbury Mills, was an award-winning real estate broker and businesswoman. She retired from real estate in 2019.
She joined the Orange County Association of Realtors in 1990 with Century 21 Foley & Latasa Realty (the company changed its name to Century 21 Foley Realty LLC in 2004) and in 2010 joined Hudson Heritage Realty.
Among her awards included an Excellence in Sales - 1999 Bronze Award and Excellence in Sales - 2000 Gold Award.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She was born in Brooklyn to Ramiro and Christine Micallef.
Sherman was devoted to her community, serving at various times as a member and president of the Blooming Grove Volunteer Ambulance Corps, Blooming Grove Building Inspector, the Blooming Grove Zoning Board and Catholic Daughters.
While she was dedicated to serving the community, her greatest joy came from her family. Sherman was a proud and caring matriarch whose heart expanded beyond capacity with each family member added. She loved cooking, and hosting Sunday and holiday meals with her family. Her sage and loving advice at the kitchen table provided guidance to multiple generations. Her favorite place was the beach and feeling the warmth of the sun. She was an avid reader, tennis player, golfer, flower gardener and traveler. With her competitive spirit she looked forward to weekly mah-jongg games with her friends. Her love of family spanned oceans. She took immense pride in traveling and uniting her immediate family with her extended family in Malta.
She was pre-deceased by her daughter Anne Hughes. She is survived by her husband Jerry Sherman at home; daughter Laura Carlstrom and her husband John of Salisbury Mills, NY; son John Sherman and his wife Sarah Tomsyck of Broad Run, VA; her grandchildren Ryan Hughes and his wife Jackie; Maggie White and her husband Matthew; MaryBeth O’Donoghue and her husband Ryan; David Carlstrom and his partner Kristina Barnes; great-grandchildren Griffin and Remy White and Carter and Grayson Hughes and many beloved friends.
A memorial mass was held in her honor at St. Mary’s Church on Monday, June 10th.
