Total existing-home sales—completed transactions that include single-family homes, townhomes, condominiums and co-ops—rose 3.1% from December to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 4.00 million in January.
In Memoriam-Veteran Commercial Broker James F. Walker
The Hudson Gateway Association of Realtors regrets to inform its membership of the passing of James F. Walker of Fishkill on Oct. 16 at the age of 60.
Walker was an Associate Broker with Keller-Williams Hudson Valley United in Middletown and a member of the brokerage’s firm’s Commercial Real Estate Team. He passed away after a long illness surrounded by his family.
Walker served as Immediate Past President of the New York State Commercial Association of Realtors and was a Board of Governors member of NYSCAR.
He was born on Feb. 23, 1963, the son of Kenneth and Elizabeth (Mulvaney) Walker in Binghamton, NY. For the past 36 years he stayed side by side with the true love of his life, Elsie Cabot whom he just married on Oct. 5, 2023, at a home ceremony. She survives at home.
He had a love of flying and was working diligently up until the time of his death to obtain his pilot’s license and was a member of the Grasshopper Flying Club. He enjoyed fishing, kayaking, and hiking and his most favorite place to hike was in Kauai, HI along the Na Pali Coastline. Above all he loved spending time with his two four-legged children, his German Shepherds, Sam & Maya.
In addition to his wife, James is survived by his siblings: Mary E. Dubois and her husband Stephan, Peter A. Walker and his wife Suzanne, Christopher M. Walker and his wife Megumi, Carol A. Walker and her husband Barry Winter, Thomas B. Walker and his wife Amy, Barbara J. Curtis and her husband Gary and Patricia L. Licari and her husband Daniel. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews, friends, and colleagues.
Calling hours will be Sunday, Oct. 22, 2023, at McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill Inc., 1089 Main Street, Fishkill, NY 12524 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. A service will take place in the funeral home at 2:30pm.
