LEGAL CORNER: NYC Passes the FARE Act and Restricts the Payment of Commissions by Tenants
The real estate industry has expressed concerns regarding the potential repercussions of the FARE Act.
Hudson Valley Economic Development Corp. reported recently the addition of Nick Spano, president, Empire Strategic Planning, to its Board of Directors. Former New York State Senator Spano is one of the leading lobbyists and business consultants in New York.
Spano expertise in government affairs, healthcare and business development will be a huge asset to help HVEDC fulfills its mission to grow the regional economy.
Spano enjoyed a distinguished 28-year career in the New York State Legislature. He was first elected to the State Assembly at age 25 representing the City of Yonkers. In 1986 he was elected to the State Senate, representing Yonkers, Greenburgh, Mount Pleasant and Eastchester.
He was named Chairman of the Senate Committee on Mental Health and Development Disabilities, which at the time was called the Committee on Mental Hygiene.
Later Senator Spano went on to serve as Chairman of the Senate Labor Committee, the Committee on Investigations and Government Operations, and served as Senior Assistant Majority Leader.
“Nick has a keen understanding of how business and government works. His vast experience will be a huge asset to our organization especially as we work to recover from COVID-19” said, Mike Oates, president and CEO, HVEDC. “I have had the pleasure to work with Nick on a number of projects in the past and look forward to working with him on key issues facing the business community in the Hudson Valley.”
