LEGAL CORNER: NYC Passes the FARE Act and Restricts the Payment of Commissions by Tenants
The real estate industry has expressed concerns regarding the potential repercussions of the FARE Act.
WEST PARK, NY—Rand Commercial reports that it has brokered the $9.3-million sale of more than 522 acres of land here that was home to the Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart located on both sides of Route 9W.
The property at 2054-2055 Route 9W was acquired by and will be the new home for the Bishops of the Coptic Church of New York and New England, Rand Commercial stated. The Hudson River side of the property housed the convent, administrative building and chapel of the Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart.
Property directly across Route 9W in this hamlet of Esopus used to serve as the St. Cabrini Orphanage. The site included a school, classroom building, cafeteria, gymnasium and dormitories of the former West Park School District.
Paul Adler, Esq., SIOR, Chief Strategy Officer of Rand Commercial, who represented the seller and the buyer in the transaction, said the sale allows the property with its “stunning Hudson River views” to be preserved.
“While commercial real estate is about square footage, zoning and acreage, this transaction was helped with divine intervention,” Adler said. “The marriage of the Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart and the Coptic Church of New York and New England was a match made in heaven.”
