When you think about couples working together, celebrities like Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz may often come to mind. Or perhaps you might think about Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton, or Beyoncé and Jay-Z. While these couples have always made headlines, there are many others who are just as famous, but in their own local circles.
Enter Greg and Julia Tsougranis, the husband-and-wife team with Keller Williams Realty NYC Group in the Bronx. Greg, a new 2025 HGAR Board of Directors member, is a third-generation “Bronxite” with over a decade of real estate experience and more than 300 transactions to his name.
Julia Egorova-Tsougranis also has more than 10 years in the business and serves as a buyer’s agent and marketing specialist for the team. Greg is fluent in Greek, and Julia in Russian, and together this power couple is taking the Bronx and the lower Hudson Valley by storm.
They first met in 2009 at the landmark Russian Samovar Restaurant in Manhattan, and six months later they were married. “I knew she’d be a great real estate agent one day,” Greg quipped. At the time, Julia had just completed her B.A. in Political Science from Queens College.
Greg, who holds a B.A. in Accounting from SUNY Binghampton, had always been an entrepreneur and once owned a store called the Wood and Willow Furniture & Home Decorating Gallery in Nyack. He even spent time in Eastern Europe hunting for the perfect items for the store and was one of the first Americans to go into Bulgaria.
“My grandfather came to America as an immigrant over 100 years ago and opened a flower shop in the Bronx, so I grew up making a lot of flower deliveries,” he recalled. “It was a great way to get a good grasp on the local communities here.” His family was even mentioned in the book “Boulevard of Dreams” about the Grand Concourse in the Bronx.
Eventually, Greg’s love and knowledge of the local neighborhoods prompted him to seek out a real estate career. Initially, he began working with Century 21 Metro Star in the Bronx, and credits Broker Gary Waller for showing him the ropes. He joined Keller Williams in 2012.
Julia was born in Russia and came to the U.S. in 2006, where she stayed and worked in a hotel. She also holds a B.A. in Linguistics from the Pyatigorsk Linguistic University in Russia and has developed advanced technology skills for digital marketing. In addition, she held previous positions as an insurance underwriter, freelance professional translator and sales associate with Translation Services USA.
Jumping headfirst into the real estate industry, Julia also joined Keller Williams in 2012. “I always heard Greg on the phone making deals and coaching other agents,” she said. “It was totally new to me, but really interesting. He inspired me to get into the real estate business—it was like observing a maestro at play.”
Greg admits it was difficult in the beginning, forging into a commission-only based business, but consistency and hard work paid off. “Julia also thought about giving up early on, even though she worked diligently to put herself through four years of college,” he said.
While she was working at a bar part-time, she met someone who wanted to buy a home, and the person ended up purchasing a $1.2-million property in Scarsdale. From that point, there was no stopping this unique real estate couple.
Their clients are multicultural, including about 30% to 40% who are Russian and Greek. “I love working with her,” Greg said of Julia. “Families have often worked together in many different industries, so we’re just adapting that to real estate.”
Julia agreed that their working lives have little difference from their personal lives. “We have a symbiotic relationship,” she explained. “We each have our skill sets for working with buyers and sellers. Greg is great at networking, and I like handling the online technology.”
The team handles listings and sales of all property types—single-family homes, condos and co-ops, as well as rentals. While they concentrate on the Bronx and lower Westchester, the couple is not averse to traveling north into central and northern Westchester, as well as Putnam County. Both have won impressive sales awards from Keller Williams.
Greg also serves as HGAR’s Regional Director for the Bronx and is involved with several community groups, including the Bronx Chapter of the American Hellenic Educational Progressive Association and the New York City Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.
When they’re not working, they’re busy with their three children: Theodore, 13, Anastasia, 11 and Seraphima, 3. The family loves to travel not only throughout the Hudson Valley, but abroad to places like Greece, Turkey, Hungary, Mexico and the Caribbean islands. “Greece is so beautiful, and we’re also involved in renovating our ancestral home on a mountaintop,” Greg shared.
As for their constant togetherness at home and at work, both say they wouldn’t have it any other way. “It’s just all about keeping a good life balance,” added Julia.
