HGAR and NYSAR Celebrate Legislative Wins, Prepare for 2026 Advocacy Push
With the full legislature and governor facing re-election in 2026, HGAR and NYSAR are already preparing for what could be a watershed year for housing policy.
HGAR is a leader in the realm of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) and is committed to diversifying our membership, creating a deeply diverse, equitable, and inclusive organization for our members, and embedding inclusive practices in the ways we work and learn.
Studies have shown that the construction of 100 units of multifamily housing generates an average of 161 jobs and $11.7 million into the local economy in the first year.
As we celebrate the achievements of the past, I look forward to continuing HGAR’s efforts to challenge preconceived notions, embrace diversity, and work towards an equitable and even more inclusive association.
Why are people so apprehensive about breaking the social norms they've established? Why do we tend to assume the worst about others? And why do we sometimes align ourselves with one group against another?
Allowing landlords to get by without building permits and Certificates of Occupancy or building at substandard levels places, residents, business owners, merchants and first responders at risk.
The solution to diversifying commercial development lies not in rejecting progress, but in embracing a more nuanced approach. We need a development ecosystem that sings a richer melody, with diverse notes of retail, office spaces, and light industry harmonizing in a dynamic symphony.
Soon we will share with you HGAR’s new Strategic Plan and vision. You are the most important part of the plan, and we encourage you to engage and participate.
Last year, more than 110 HGAR members attended Lobby Day, which represented one-third of the total turnout of the entire New York State Association of Realtors in Albany. With two busloads of Realtors, HGAR came out in force and that effort was recognized.
We are a lot of things for a lot of people, separately and all together. With such intense connections, we are bound to get caught on the ride of some of our clients' life rollercoasters.
Together, we have the power to shape the trajectory of our Association, to inspire positive change, and to foster an environment where innovation flourishes and every member feels valued.
Americans just don't know about what REALTORS® do and the profound impact we have in our communities. Let's change that, starting now.
From reinventing Real Estate In-Depth to our new strategic plan, we are building a culture of individual engagement and inclusion, so you can get the most out of your HGAR membership.
